Judge welding grads ready to get to work

Father Judge recently held a ceremony to honor 20 seniors for completing a rigorous, three-year, 1,080-hour welding program.

School president Brian King (class of 1997) introduced the program in the 2019-20 academic year. The first graduates were members of the class of 2022.

Judge partners with DC Fabricators, Holtec International, L3Harris, PTR Baler & Compactor, Sea Box, DeVal, SEPTA, Philly Shipyard, Steamfitters Local 420 and Boilermakers Local 13 to offer job opportunities to welding grads.

Teacher Joe Williams presented the top award, sponsored by Airgas, to Geoffrey Ditrich, who will begin his career at SEPTA this month.

King and principal James Hozier offered congratulatory remarks, as 23 juniors – who will graduate next year from the program – stood in the back of the gym. The grads were joined by their families. ••
