Lemont Furnace man killed in Menallen Township crash

A Lemont Furnace man died Saturday after he lost control of his vehicle and hit

A Lemont Furnace man died Saturday after he lost control of his vehicle and hit a gas station sign in Menallen Township.

State police said the 28-year-old, who was not identified, was driving west on Route 40 when he accelerated through the intersection with Northgate Highway. Police said the Dodge Caliber the man was driving crossed the center median, and spun out before he hit the business sign of the Kwik Fill gas station around 10:40 p.m.

According to a release from police, the man was not wearing a seatbelt and had to be extricated from the vehicle. He was transported to Uniontown Hospital, where he later died.
